COURSEDESCRIPTION:Useofcomputerapplicationssoftwareasapartoftheengineering
designprocess.Introductiontothefiniteelementmethodforstressanalysis.Softwarepackages,
suchasnonlinearsolvers,finiteelementanalysis,solidmodeling,andkinematicsimulation,willbe
introduced.Designworkusingthesetoolswillbeamajorcomponentofthecourse.

COURSEREQUIREMENTS:
Homework,twomidterm examsandonecomprehensiveexam willbegiven. Youwillworkin
groupsof34tocompleteasemesterdesignproject.
ATTENDANCE: Thisclasscontainsalaboratorycomponenttherefore,studentsareexpected
toattendallclasses. Morethan threeabsenceswithoutproperexuseimplyafailinggradeforthe
course. Makeupexamsmaybegivenonlyfordocumentedmedicalreasons,emergencies,or
Universitysponsoredactivities.AdvancenoticemustbegivenforabsenceduetoUniversity
sponsoredactivities.
