After

doing research in to film

posters for thriller and horror
genre films I came across a
poster for the film Ouija which
was instantly very fitting and
gave me a lot of ideas for my
ancillary text.

This poster stood out to me
because of the dark colours
used and the main factor that
you focus on is the Ouija board
and this is the main part of my
shot film. The colours are
what stood out to me well the
lack of colour. This is sticking
to the thriller and horror
genre because it is mostly
made up of dark colours with
a lonely figure in the middle. I
like the lack of colour because
it instantly connotes a creepy
and dark feel to the film which
is exactly what I want to
create before the audience
have to even watch the film.

I also like the fact that the

typography is in red. This
instantly makes it stands out
and tells you what the film is
about. In this case it is about a
Ouija board and from the title
you instantly know that that the
film is about a Ouija board. The
title needs to stand because that
informs you about the film and
makes you interested to see
what the film is about.

Tis film poster is my main
inspiration because my film is
based around the same thing
and the actress is represented
as venerable and thats exactly
what happens in my storyline.
One thing I will do differently is
just have the actress in my film
poster and not the ghost like
figure in the background.
Although this looks good I want
to just have the main character
on the poster because she is
venerable and alone in my short
film and this is how I want it to
look on the poster.
