The potato famine was so important because the
Irish had a big impact on Canada today. Firstly, it all happened in 1846. The Irish left because the great potato famine, and because where they were living, they didnt have a good life so they moved to start a better one and plant potatoes. Secondly, when the Irish first planted the potatoes, the fields were very green and were successful. But then a horrid blight appeared, and little did the Irish know that. Thirdly, then the fall came, and the Irish went to dig up the potatoes and they were all gross and mushy. So the Irish had a hard time surviving thrown out the winter. Most of the Irish had to leave to start over again and they had to try to survive without one of their main source of food. And if I got to go back in time, I would probably tell the Irish that moving to go to the potato famine was a bad idea and would not work out.
