The HPC Training Best Practices

workshop included presentations on

training models, methods and curriculum. There were three models of
interest to us: Kirkpatrick training model used by Barcelona
Supercomputing Center, HPC-Leap training by Julich Supercomputing
Center and Blue Waters internship program. These three models
considered factoring user HPC background, field specific HPC training,
graduate vs undergraduate training levels and post training
outreach. Presentation by iCER, Michigan State discussed seminar based
training for undergraduates and introductory users, with a suggestion
that hands-on experience during training was found necessary to
inculcate proficiency in using HPC systems. We are hopeful that this
exposure will facilitate a better discussion in MARIA-RCTC, where one
of the areas of interest is collaborating on HPC training.
