Text Book:
Elementary Number Theory and its application by Kenneth H. Rosen
Course Content
This course covers most (but not all) of the chapters 1, 3,4,6,7, 12 and if time
permits we shall cover some of chapter 13.

Exams
There will be a Final Exam in class and a midterm exam.

Homework
After each meeting, I will recommend a list of problems as a homework assignment.
It is essential that you try each of those problems to learn the material. In addition,
you will present ten homework assignments in our regular meetings. Discussing
and exchanging ideas on homeworks is highly recommended. However, each
student should individually write up his or her own work, and you should never give
your friends access to the final version of your work.
Grades
A student's final grade will be composed from 60% homework, 15% tests, and 25%
final exam.
Policy On Cheating And Plagiarism
The work submitted by each student should be that student's own work, and not the
work of some other individual. In the case of homework assignments, students are
allowed to consult outside sources such as books, tutors, websites, and friends, but it
is important that the submitted homework is written in the student's own words and
reflects that student's understanding of the homework exercises. In particular,
students who copy another individual's work may be subject to academic
disciplinary action (see http://cmu.edu/policies/documents/AcadRegs.html).

A student's answers on a test or final exam are expected to reflect that student's
knowledge. For this reason, notes, books, or other materials are not allowed during
tests or the final exam. Communication with other individuals is also forbidden
during tests and the final exam. Students who violate this policy may be subject to
academic disciplinary action (see
http://cmu.edu/policies/documents/AcadRegs.html).
