SIMPLE PAST TENSE (waktu lampau sederhana)

Good Afternoon,
Today we are going to learn about simple past tense
The past simple tells about hings that happened yesterday, last week, last year,, or
a long time ago that have finished.
To know make this tense you must know the formula that i:
(+) s + verb2 + object/compliment
(-) s + did + not + verb1 + o/c
(?) did + s + verb1 + o/c
Example : I walk to the hospital, to make this sentence past, you add ed and youll
get
(+) I walked to the hospital
(-) I did not walk to the hospital
(?) did I walk to the hospital?
Another example : (+) She went to school yesterday
(-) She did not go to school yesterday
(?) did she go to school yesterday?
Okay, so now what is the difference between the 1 st example and the 2nd example ?
Lets start from the verb 2 in the 1st example. Verb 2 in 1st example is regular verbs.
Regular verbs are these whose past tense and participles are formed by adding a d
or and ed to end the verb.
To roll is a good example of a regular verb:
Roll, rolled, rolled
Sometimes the last consonant must be doubled before adding the ed ending. For
example :
plan, planned, planned
The verb2 in the 2nd example is irregular verbs . Irregular verbs is verb in which the
past tense is not formed by adding ed ending instead the verb changed
Example : break changed to broke
Run to ran, meet to met, come to came, repay to repaid, swim to swam, sing to
sang and so on.

Now that you know how to form past simple you need to know when to use
correctly.
1st Use past simple when something has happened in the past and has finished.
2nd Use past simple when you indicate a time in the past, example : we lived in
Hollad in 1991
Also use past simple when you express habit ( habit in the pass ), example : I
collected stamps when I was a child. And lastly, use past simple when you tell a
story (telling a story ), for example : Once upon a time there was a farmer who lived
in a small village.
As you can see with all these uses past simple is always about something that is
completely finished. Remember that its very important.
