1.

In the article, If Decency Doesnt, Law Should Make Us Samaritans, by Gloria Allred
and Lisa Bloom, their argument is that, as the title suggests, the U.S government
should make people be Good Samaritans. As the author states It is time to join
with countries like France and insist that there be legal consequences for turning
ones back on someone in desperate need. (Allred Bloom 5) What the author is trying
to state is that as people we shouldnt help someone in fear or just out of
recklessness and helping people should matter. Its important for the author to state
this because it provides an overall call to action on why people should be Good
Samaritans.

The author does address the idea of ethical responsibility by talking about American
law and how it can go against being a Good Samaritan. The author is trying to
present that people shouldnt be liable for worsening the injuries of someone when
they were trying to help them. Under American law, liability generally exists for
actions, not inaction. (Allred Bloom 5) and We are each responsible for the harm we
cause to others due to the lack of reasonable care. (Allred Bloom 5) are quotes from
the authors on how they personally perceive the situation. To the authors, they
believe we all have a moral responsibility to help others.
