Christmas in Turkey involves various forms of celebration .

Islam is the largest religion


in Turkey according to the state, with 96.4% of the population. Cristians and Jews who
comprise the non-Muslim religious population, make up 3.6% of the total.
Christmas is celebrated on Jan. 6th in Turkey. On Christmas Eve, seven purple candles are
lit .together. Families go to church at sunset and then sit down to a Christmas dinner of
seafood. On Christmas day, people attend Christmas mass. A religious parade starts at 10:00
in the morning in the Kumkapi district of Istanbul.

Turkey is a bridge between Europe and Asia that instills the Christmas spirit with an atmosphere that combines the
East and West
