Units of Study: The month of January we will finish up our Author unit on David Adler. We have written
autobiography paragraphs and made a biography banner of a important person in history, as well as learned
about David Adler and ourselves as writers. We will launch into our next unit which will be Light and Sound!
We will think like scientists as we investigate, research and conduct experiments about the light and sound
that surrounds our daily lives!
Math: In math the students continue to learn about geometry concepts such as finding the perimeter of a
figure and identifying the attributes of polygons. Next the students will learn about multiplication and
division basic facts. We will start by skip counting and then work on repeated addition. After that
students will learn about patterns as they learn their multiplication tables. Also this month students will
practice reading a thermometer in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. Please continue to encourage your child to
practice these concepts on Dreambox.
Homework Update: Please continue to make sure your child is reading at least 20
minutes per night! This is one of the BEST ways to help support your child in their
school work and
help foster their
