Class Policies

Assignments are only accepted on the due date.

Students are expected to attend, be on time and be prepared for all
classes.
Although the University policy states that all drops can be done by
Week 6 of the term, students should be aware that this is a
required course. If you drop this course you will not graduate until
the course is completed.
There are no make-up journals.
The Instructor can amend policies or the syllabus at his/her discretion.

Assignment Overview

While this course is not meant to be a burden, students are expected to take
the course and all assignments seriously. As you will discover, college
courses require your complete involvement if you expect to gain any benefit
from them. In other words, you get out of this or any other course what you
put in. All assignments are graded on quality and presentation.

Journal

These are 400 word reflection papers on topics throughout the course. The
journals are to be typed in an MS Word readable format, or entered as text
in BB Learn. Either way,
JOURNALS MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA BB LEARN BY 3:00PM ON THE DUE DATE.
Journals
that are less than 400 words will receive zero credit. Confidentiality
between instructor and student is guaranteed, unless otherwise agreed
upon.

Open Arts

Last term you received a subscription to Open Arts which admits you to
many of the citys cultural venues for free or at a discount. In order to
receive full credit for this assignment for the winter, you must attend any
three (3) events (in addition to any events you attended in the fall) and
send the instructor a journal documenting these events. Details will be
discussed in class, including proof of attendance.

Class Presentations

Presentations will be group assignments. The class will be divided into no

more than six groups. Each group will be required to make a minimum 10
minute (maximum 15 minute) presentation on any topic in the
entertainment industry or the arts. Groups are encouraged to use any
technology, audio, PowerPoint, transparencies, black-board, hand-outs,
video, etc. Each member of the group is required to actively contribute by
delivering some part of the presentation. If a member of your group does

not participate in the presentation he/she will not be awarded their points
unless they have an excused absence.
