SUBJECT: PORTSMOUTH MAN ARRESTED FOR BURGLARY

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini stated that his office received a call on January
27, 2017 from a male who lives on Clover Lane Wheelersburg stating that someone had
broken out his window to his attached garage attempting to break in before being scared
off by a neighbor. A photo of the suspect along with suspect vehicle was obtained.

A deputy responded to this location where a report was taken and forwarded to a
detective for an investigation during this ongoing investigation two more reports were
filed one being on Dry Run in West Portsmouth the caller stated that on January 30, 2017
he along with his wife returned home to find the door to his house had been forced open,
once they went inside they found a male suspect standing in the living room with several
items that belonged to them to include electronics and jewelry. The male dropped the
items and ran on foot leaving in a vehicle matching the description of the previous call on
Clover Lane Wheelersburg Ohio. Another report was filed on January 30, 2017 from a
Kittle Road Wheelersburg location stating that she observed a suspicious vehicle parked
at her parents house as she approached a male suspect ran from inside of the attached
garage of this residence fleeing in a vehicle matching all the other reports this victim
reported several items missing.

Sheriff Donini stated during this investigation detectives were able to gather evidence
with the help of social media and witnesses that helped identify a possible suspect.

Captain John Murphy stated that on Tuesday January 31, 2017 detectives were able to
locate the suspects vehicle parked at a residence located at 213 South Preston Street
Portsmouth, Ohio which resulted in the suspect being detained without incident which
resulted in a search warrant being served on this location along with the suspect vehicle
being impounded for a further investigation.

Arrested was Michael Ryan Dingess age 26 of Portsmouth, Dingess has been charged
with one count of attempted burglary a felony of the 2nd degree, two counts of burglary a
felony of the 2nd degree and probation violation. Dingess is being held without bond and
appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Wednesday February 1, 2017.

Sheriff Donini stated this is an ongoing investigation that will result with more charges
being presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury.
