ThesevocationaloutcomesweredevisedbytheMinistryofTrainingCollegesandUniversitiesandguidethe
curriculumforOntarioOTA&PTAdiplomaprograms.AtFleming,theseelevenvocationallearningoutcomes
informourcurriculumframework.
Thegraduatehasreliablydemonstratedtheabilityto:

1. Communicateappropriatelyandeffectively,throughverbal,nonverbal,writtenandelectronicmeans,
withclients,theirfamilies,andsignificantothers*,occupationaltherapists,physiotherapists,other
healthcareproviders,andotherswithintheroleofthetherapistassistant*.

2. Participateintheeffectivefunctioningofinterprofessionalhealthcareteamswithintheroleofthe
therapistassistant*.

3. Establish,develop,maintain,andbringclosuretoclientcentred,therapeuticrelationshipswithinthe
roleofthetherapistassistant*.

4. Ensurepersonalsafetyandcontributetothesafetyofotherswithintheroleofthetherapistassistant*.

5. Practicecompetentlyinalegal,ethical,andprofessionalmannerwithintheroleofthetherapist
assistant*.

6. Documentandcompleteclientrecordsinathorough,objective,accurate,andnonjudgmentalmanner
withintheroleofthetherapistassistant*.

7. Developandimplementstrategiestomaintain,improve,andpromoteprofessionalcompetencewithin
theroleofthetherapistassistant*.

8. Performeffectivelywithintherolesandresponsibilitiesofthetherapistassistant*throughthe
applicationofrelevantknowledgeofhealthsciences,psychosociologicalsciences,andhealthconditions.

9. Performfunctionscommontobothphysiotherapyandoccupationaltherapypracticesthatcontributeto
thedevelopment,implementationandmodificationofintervention/treatmentplans,underthe
supervisionofandincollaborationwiththeoccupationaltherapistand/orphysiotherapist.

10. Enabletheclientsoccupationalperformance*bycontributingtothedevelopment,implementation,
andmodificationofintervention/treatmentplans,underthesupervisionofandincollaborationwiththe
occupationaltherapist.

11. Enabletheclientsoptimalphysicalfunctionbycontributingtothedevelopment,implementation,and
modificationofintervention/treatmentplans,underthesupervisionofandincollaborationwiththe
physiotherapist.
