The purpose of job analysis is to establish requirements that are related to the job. It is
considered to be a foundation of Human Resource Management and plays a vital role in different
areas not just in recruitment and selection. It is also significant in job evaluation, job designing,
deciding compensation and benefits packages, performance appraisal, analyzing training and
development needs, assessing the worth of a job and increasing personnel as well as
organizational productivity. In Performance Analysis, job analysis is done to check whether or
not goals and objective of a certain job is being met or not. It also helps in deciding performance
standards, evaluation criteria, and individuals output. On this premise, the execution of a worker
is measured and he or she is evaluated. Job analysis in Training and Development is used to test
the training and development needs of employees. The expected and actual output is used to
know what level of training the employees need to have. It is also useful in choosing the training
content, tools, and equipment to be used to know what method to facilitate the training. Of
course, job analysis is also needed to decide the pay packages, benefits, and variable incentives
of employees that are all under Compensation Management. Ultimately, pay packages is based
on position, job title and duties and responsibilities involved in a job. This directs HR managers
in determining the worth of an employee for a certain job opening. Job analysis is also needed
for Job Designing and Redesigning. Its main purpose is to integrate the human efforts to get the
best possible output. It benefits in designing, redesigning, enriching, evaluating and also cutting
back and adding extra responsibilities for a job. This is done to enhance the employee
satisfaction while increasing the human output. Thus, job analysis is one of the most important
functions of an HR manager as it helps in fitting the right kind of talent at the right place and at
the right time.
