CASE 1

A 16 year old consults 1A04 requesting for contraception. Shes been


sexually active for a year now and would like to make sure she does
not get pregnant. Would you provide contraception?

The week after a worried mother goes to 1A04 and asks you as the ICC
in charge why her daughter consulted and what you provided. She
threatened to report you to the hospital director for attending to her
daughter without parental consent.

Guide Questions:
1. Discuss the main ethical arguments for or against the decision to
provide contraception to a 16 year old.
2. What will you tell the parent? What should be done in these
situations?

CASE 2

A 21 year old consults OBAS the day after unprotected coitus with her
boyfriend. She read about emergency contraception and asks you for a
prescription.

Guide Questions:
1. Discuss the main ethical arguments for or against the decision to
provide emergency contraception.
2. What is important to discuss to the patient in this case?
