Formal education in my country doesnt impair me for my future
life.
In my opinion this is a debatable statement. I believe that
schools have always had two major purposes to serve: to educate citizens and to process them into roles for economic production. To accomplish them, schools have the role of supplying students with information and with learning skills and to guide them to make steps leading to predictable, marketable credentials for the workplace.
In Romania, the provision of information, much of which is
theoretical, is well done but, as far as the learning skills are concerned there is a marked lack. What is more, there is a limited range of extracurricular activities through which students may learn skills such as creative thinking, leadership, team spirit, resourcefulness, adaptability and other, that will help them later on both in their profession and in their private life. One more point that Id like to change for the better is students counselling and guidance in project enrolment. If students were guided and encouraged to enrol in various projects they would acquire new skills like initiative-taking, decision making, competitiveness that would make them highly targeted on the market.
