Miss Amatto’s Grade 1 ? GRADE 1A News! In reading this month, our class just started doing guided reading groups with Miss A! This will help student comprehension of text, fluency, and help with reading strategies to decode unknown words, at your child’s level. Thank you for your support, with reading at home! The students have grown so much since September with your help at home! Please continue to read with your child, and record the books in their reading duotang, This.month.in.. Social Studies: we continue to team about living in communities, and how to become active, contributing members within our society! Students just learned important vocabulary terms, including “cooperation, and contributing.” Religion: Our class is learning about the Sacrament of Baptism, including the signs, symbols, and traditions of Baptism. Our next topic of study will be the Season of Lent. To support your child’s understanding, itis a good idea to talk to your child about their Baptism, and any stories/memories that you may have from their Baptismal celebration. February 16"-February 20": No classes (Teachers Convention/Family Day) February 23": 1:A- 5 Senses TPET amily WORD WORK: ourciass is practicing our sight words daily, as well as working with new word families and blends! We just finished learning about “sh, th, and wh” blends. Please, keep practicing sight words at home, as they are cumulative, and should be automatic. WRITING? The students are still working on adding detail to our writing, and lgoing back to re-read what they wrote, (to see if it makes sense). To encourage writing, itis a great idea for your child to keep a journal at home, to draw or write about whatever comes to min: IMATH: our class is moving on from basic ladding/subtracting up to 12, to our new unit, numbers up to 20!
