ADVERTISEM ENT

The Search Committee constituted under sub-section (3) of Section 4 of the Megha laya
Lokayukta Act, 2014 hereby invites Applications in Prescribed Form (Annexure - A) for filling
up I (one) post of Chairperso n and 4 (four) posts of Members in the Lokayukta of Meghalaya on
the following terms and conditions.
Terms & Cc ndi tionss-

1. Chairp erson of Meghalaya Lokayukta - For filling I(one) Post.

Requisite Qualification for the Post:

(a) a person who is or has been a Chief Justice of High Court. or
(b) a person who is or has been a Judge ora High Court, or
(e) an eminent person if he is a person of impeccable integrity, outstanding ability having
special knowledge and expertise of not less than twenty-five years in (he matters relating
to anti-corruption policy, public administration, vigilance, finance including insurance
and banking, law, and management.

2. Members in th e Lokayukta of Meghalava - For filling 4 (four) Posts as follows,-

(i) 2 (two) Posts for Judicial Mem bers,-
Requisite Qualification for the Post:
(a) a person who is or has been a Judge of the High Court, or
(b) Judicial Member who is eligible to be a Judge of the High Court.

(ii) 2 (two) Posts for nen-Judlclal Members,-

Requisite Qualification for the Post:
(a) an eminent person who is a person of impeccable integrity, outstanding ability having
special knowledge and expertise of not less than twenty-five years in the matters relating to
anti-corruption policy, public administration, vigilance, finance including insurance and
banking, law, and management.

 Persons applying for the abov e mentioned posts at para I & 2 of this Advertisement shall
not be eligible as per sub-section (4) of Section 3 of the Meghalaya Lokayukta Act, 2014 (Act
No. 4 of 2014) if he ls..
(i) a member of Parliament or a member of the Legislature of any State or
Union territory; or
(ii) a person convicted of any offence involving moral turpitude; or
(iii) a member of any Panchayat or Municipality or District Council; or
(iv) a person who has been removed or dismissed from service of the Union or
a State, and shall not hold any office of trust or profit (other than his office
as the Chairperson or a Member) or be connected with any political party
or carryon any business or practice any profession.

3. Age Crite ria:

Person applying for the post of the Chairperson and the Members of the Meghalaya
Lokayukta as at para 1 and 2 of this Advertisement should not be less than 45 (forty five) years
of age as on 01.01.2017.

-t.Tenure of the posts:

The person nominated as the case may be, as Chairperson and Members of the
Meghalaya Lokayukta shall hold office for a term of 5 (live) yea rs from the date of entering his
office or until such person attains the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier.

5.Salaries and Allowances:

The Salaries and Allowances shall be as the terms and conditions as specified under
Section 7 of the Meghalaya Lokayukta Act, 2014 as follows;
(1) The salaries and allowances of Chairperson of the Meghalaya Lokayukta shall be the same as
those of the Chief Justice of the High Court.
(2) The salaries and allowances of persons appointed as Members of the Meghalaya Lokayukta
shall be the same as those ofa Judge of the High Court.

Procedure for Applyin g the Posts:

6. All applicants, whethe r nom inated or those who are applying directly in response to the
Advertisement, must subm it their applic ations in the presc r ibed profor ma which is enclosed as
Annexure - A. Applications wh ich are not in the prescribed proforma will be summarily rej ected .

7. Application, complete in all respect s along with latest Passport Size photo and duly signed by
the applicants, must be addressed to the Commiss ioner & Secretary to the GoVL of Meghalaya,
Political Department and Conveno r of the Search Committee of Lokay ukta, Room No.3 29,
Meghalaya (C) Secretariat, Main Building, Shillong-79300 1 and should reac h latest by 5:00 P.M.
on 06.03.2017.
Applications received after this due da te will not be acce pted. This Department will not be
responsible for delayllos s of applicatio n, for any reasons whatsoever. The envel ope containing
the application shall be supersc ripted " App lica tion for the Post of ChairpersonlMember,
Lokavukta".
