Shirley Silva was a student in the English Language Development, Critical Reading, and
the Online Career and Counseling 116 course that I teach at Nova Early College High School.
Currently she is in my family class, a class where students work toward graduation and future
college goals. Shirley has demonstrated growth in the area of personal responsibility and self-
motivation toward learning. An example of her scholastic commitment was the successful
completion of all assignments for each of the classes that consistently met the high standards.
During the Counseling 116 online college course, she was supportive to her peers by giving
providing help to classmates that were not as familiar as she was with the technology tools
needed to succeed in an online course. Shirley maintained her high standards, positive attitude,
and commitment to promptness every day during these courses. Shirley has received the
following academic awards: High Honor Roll in 9th. and 10th grades, Principals Honor Roll in
11th. and 12th. grades, and she currently has a G.P.A. of 4.0. These accomplishments show strong
evidence of her character and motivation towards her education which will prove to be valuable
in everything that Shirley will do in the future.
Shirley is also fluent in Spanish and English. Her cheerful personality and good sense of
humor are a great balance to her hardworking drive to excel in her future. I would highly
recommend Shirley as a person who demonstrates high standards for herself. She is a hard-
working individual who will be very successful in the future as she continues to require
excellence of herself. I am confident that she will continue to grow in her work ethic and
enthusiasm for learning in her future endeavors.
