Dear Senator Flake:

I am writing you today to advocate my support for bill s. 2012. As an environmentally minded
citizen, and as a student attending Arizona State University who has researched the issue of
climate change, it is of importance to me that this bill should be passed.

Viewpoints concerning the state of the global environment range from claims that global
warming will end the world, to climate change is a government hoax. I have researched several
diverse points of view regarding the issues of global warming and climate change. Being such a
controversial topic, I assessed many valid arguments but I was not able to conclude which
standpoint was the most accurate in regard to the true nature of climate change. However, my
research showed that many of the sources each proposed means of protecting or healing the
environment, with solutions ranging from the implementation of more nuclear power plants, to
innovating transportation, to rehabilitating environments soils.

I share many of the same sentiments as the sources that I have read, regardless of the existence or
cause of climate change, it is of great importance to ensure the integrity and safety of our
environments, so that they may continue to exist as healthy and diverse ecosystems. Senate bill s.
2012 is a very reasonable means to begin to achieve this, because it offers a variety of policies
aimed at environmental protection, such as modernizing energy infrastructure to meet future
energy needs and ensuring stewardship for public lands. Additionally, this legislation offers a
common ground that does not support a specific position regarding climate change. Senate bill s.
2012 is an important piece of policy worthy of your support because it is an important step
towards both raising awareness for environmental issues, and towards adopting proactive
environmental policies that will allow for growth and for future energy needs.

Thank you very much for your time and for your consideration of my position. I am looking
forward to hearing back from you regarding your opinions and stance regarding this legislation.

Sincerely,

Ryan Clark
