Chloe-Marie Challenger Colour Throughout our music video, we used mainly highly saturated colouring that appeared in our external locations, which gave us ambient lighting, To contrast this, the internal location of the professional studio when shooting the performance scenes allowed us to use 3 point lighting system to create depth within the shot. When editing it into the music video, we chose to apply a monochrome filter to allow the audience to clearly distinguish between the characters and the artists. The shots of the nature have a warm colour pallet of the natural browns in the forest. | have created synergy between the music video and digipak as in my digipak | have utilised a sepia filter on the images in PicMonkey with links symbiotically with the colours of nature. In relation to Barthes theory of semiotics; | chose the signifer of warm colouring because warm colours like browns and golds suggest their positive attributes and conveys warm emotions of simple optimism. The music video has a very modern look accompanied by the ancillary texts which follow the same idea Mise En Scene ‘The simplistic costume design of a desaturated stripped down colour scheme allows the audience to focus on the artist os an individual and the music video due to there not being a heavy label that cstracts the audience from the visuals, Similarly, the male protagonist inthe narrative is wearing a casual hooded jumper, which connotes he is a Iaid back character and is relaxed when around the feral. In addition to this, the fermale artist comes across much more sophisticated and classy as she is wearing a white shirt and her mokeup is quite strong, However, the first few buttons ofthe shirt are undone which give the idea of a more informal and casual effect. For the female character in the narrative, she has a similar dress code to the male protagonist which connotes @ cid back attitude. The idea of the urban casual clothing for the characters is a.codes and convention of the pop genre which will attract the young target audience. For my ancillary texts, the artists ore wearing the same clothing os they did in the music video. Mulvey’ idea ofthe male gaze can be applied here as the fernaleis often in a close up shot, amplifying her beauty, however, doesn't come through too strong. Wolf's beauty myth can also be applied to the use of heavy eye make up in our product as her idea is that women's standards of physical beauty have increased due to the commercial influences of the media. The use of makeup and sophisticated clothing will attract the female artist as it gives the artist an identity and a sense of role model to the young fernale audience. Also, in the music video the artists are all studio shots, therefore when toking the photoshoots, we decided to carry this on which creates synergy between the music video and the texts Synergy Technological Convergence The idea of synergy is used through the music video and : : ons the the anxillary texts. For example, this is done through the use of costume as it is kept consitstent through all products. Also, the typography, design work and colour scheme between the poster and the digipak also create synergy as it iconic and has intertextual reference. Coen Brand Identity Through my music video and the anxillary texts, there is a brand identity being created. This is the idea of a classy, sentimental look through all products. This is done through the highly saturated shots in the music vid dy aso the use of the colour pallet from the nature and furthermore the classy attire of the ee | followed on with the browns in ry texts as | applied a sepia filter on the images and kept the bases of the products blackyand gold. These features both connote class and elegance. Throughout the music video, the use of artificial and ambient lighting is used In the performance shots, we used a 3 point lighting system the studio. This accurately litthe artist and creates an even texture. This allows the audience to register all clements in the frame which can sometimes deter the audiences attention away from the artist whichis the main focus of the shot Overall, the use of 3 point lighting system creates a professional, industry style tone to the shot. ‘The use of the ambient lighting was used successfully in the external shots for the narrative, As the sun was setting atthe time Cf shooting the external shots, it gave ita ‘worm, saturated tone to the shots and therefore, didr't require any artificial lighting, For the shot where the car is in front ofthe sunset, we adjusted the ISO levels so that the power of the sunlight didnt overide the shot Typography Throughout the digipak and the poster, the typography | used is consistent. | chose to keep the typography for the artists names the same 1s this becomes iconic and the audience will be able to recognise it every time they see it. The font | have used for the male artist is a strong, bold font which connotes masculinity. This is then opposed by the font | have used for the female artists name which is a feminine scroll font with a handwritten effect. This has a personal effect as it is as if the artist has written it herself. This typography will attract the female audience as it has a very sophisticated feminine style. | kept this typography quite simplistic to make sure | didn't take away the attention of the images and the theme. | utilised a white box as a border to ensure the title looks strong and encourages it to stands out as it is a thin font against a black background. | felt that keeping the design and the font the same for both products would work more effectively as the album poster would be more successful in promoting the album as it has an iconic link as it follows the same theme and design, | olso designed a logo for the artist which consisted of the aritsts initials in a gold circle. This creates a iconic symbol for the audience to recognise the artist by. Having a logo creates a brand identity for the artist which furthermore creates personality. | used this on both the digipak and the album poster as it represents the artist and his identity. The use of the gold glitter as the logo also attracts the female audience as it associated with females. | also added a thin rim of glitter on the edge of the digipak CD disk to combine the ancillary texts.
