Review of a Paper Titled "Grid Synchronization Enhancement of a
Wind Driven DFIG Using Slide-mode Control"
Paper submitted for publication in JES
The following comments are raised by the reviewer and the authors
are requested to response'satisfactorily to these comments
1. Grid synchronization was investigated before using variable structure control
What slide mode control offers more when compared with variable structure
control ({ref. 5])? This has to be illustrated.
2. The coefficient ke and ky of eq. (9) are m/c dependent, i.e.; dependent on m/e
parameters, which vary with ambient temperature. How are these coefficients
assessed by the authors
3. The uncertainties of the machine parameters are quoted from ref. [15]. What
authors add in this regards?
4, In reference [14], the control objectives for DFIG system are track or slide
along predefined active and reactive power trajectories. In the present paper,
the authors used the same approach but the sliding surfaces are for the stator
direct and quadrate voltage trajectory. What new do the authors add as regards
the sliding mode contro! approach?
5. The authors of the present paper relied on comparison against measurements
by others. Where are their own measurements?
6. What is the power spectral density of the noise being added to investigate the
robustness of the proposed SMC?
7. The authors are requested to present results with and without iron loss in order
to appreciate how effective the iron loss in improving the predictions?
8. How do the authors explain that 50 % change in inductance and resistance of
rotor has no impact on the stator line voltage as shown in Figs. 12 and 13?
9. The equivalent circuit of Fig. (2) and the related differential equations are
quoted from ref. [11]. The only different in the present paper is the inclusion
of the core-loss resistance.
10. The electrical equations of the DFIG in the synchronously reference frame
disregarding the core loss eqs. (10-22) were quoted from ref. [13]. The present
paper considers the coré loss into account and electrical equations of the DFIG.
should include this loss.
11, All measurement values and waveforms should be referred to ref. [15]
12. The paper should be shortened by deleting the copied parts from previous
papers published by others.
13. The paper has several linguistics errors, which should to be corrected.
14. Paper acceptance is pending a satisfactory response to the comments
raised by the reviewer.
