105 Main Street, 4” Floor
Painesville, OH 44077-0490 By electronic mail,
Dear Commissioners Cirino, Hamercheck and Troy:
‘Thank you for your letter dated January 31, 2017. As you know, ABB will be moving its Wickliffe
operations to nearby Highland Hills later this year, This decision was not an easy one as Wickliffe has
bbeen our home for more than half of a century.
However, we are glad that we will be keeping these approximately 400 jobs in Northeast Ohio. And
though our location is changing, many ABB employees will continue to reside in Lake County and remain
part of the fabric of the community. We are hopeful that our continued success in our new location will
allow ABB to build on our more than 100 year history in Greater Cleveland.
We understand what ABB's presence has meant to the City of Wicklife and Lake County. The community
is important to us too. ABB is proud of the partnership we have built in Greater Cleveland and we expect
that to continue. The ABB Foundation, the company’s “We Care” Committee, and our employees have a
strong legacy of community stewardship. few of the charities that we have recently supported in the
‘community include: Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital; Womansafe; Cleveland Foodbank
Collection; Pan Ohio Hope; MS Pedal to the Medal; the JDRF Walk; and others.
We appreciate the relationships we have forged with the community and its leaders. We recognize the
efforts that the Lake County Board of Commissioners and other local officials made as ABB considered
how best to move forward in the region. And while we will not be able to fulfil your request for an
economic transition grant, ABB will give priority consideration as appropriate to Lake County vendors,
during our move to the new facility. We will be glad to work with you in this process.
‘While itis with bittersweet emotion that ABB is moving, our growth and continued success is important for
both our employees and Greater Cleveland.
Respectfully,
Waa Cok
