PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT
As the worlds population continues to grow, so does the amount of garbage that people
produce. On-the-go lifestyles require easily disposable products, such as soda cans or
bottles of water, but the accumulation of these products has led to increasing amounts of
plastic pollution around the world. As plastic is composed of major toxic pollutants, it has
the potential to cause great harm to the environment in the form of air, water and land
pollution.

WORK PLAN

Our project is encircled with identifying the areas of plastic use, impacts of excessive use
of plastics and potential measures to be taken to reduce plastic pollution. The initiative of
the project is to account for areas such as NIT Calicut and by quantitating the plastics
been used by students, teaching staffs and non-teaching staffs and impacts of over use of
plastic. Accomplishing this involves identifying the major sources of plastic, the
measures taken by authorities in disposing the collected plastic wastes from the college
premises and suggesting methods to reduce the over use of plastic.
