Biology and gender

For more details on this topic, see Gender essentialism and Sexual differentiati
on.
Modern feminism challenges the biological essentialist view of gender.[129][130]
For example, Anne Fausto-Sterling's book, Myths of Gender, explores the assumpt
ions embodied in scientific research that support a biologically essentialist vi
ew of gender.[131] In Delusions of Gender, Cordelia Fine disputes scientific evi
dence that suggests that there is an innate biological difference between men's
and women's minds, asserting instead that cultural and societal beliefs are the
reason for differences between individuals that are commonly perceived as sex di
fferences.[132]
