Jonathan Chen
Helped Mr. Chen teach students how to play the violin correctly and build up their skills as a
teacher's assistant. Taught children the basic fundamentals of how to read music as well.
Worked every week on Tuesdays for 2 hours. Demonstrated leadership, devotion, patience, and
initiative.

Rowland High School PTSA

Volunteer, 09/2015 to 02/2017
Helped PTSA sell food to students on campus every other Monday. Ran one station at the
booth, selling many drinks and boxes of chicken noodles. This required communication skills
and responsibility.

Activities:

Orchestra
Auditioned as a 3rd Violin, however, within a few years, I became the Concert Master. I
learned new ways of becoming a better leader and meeting new friends along the way.
 As the leader of the orchestra, I have become not only a more well-rounded musician,
but also person.
Recruited to become a Jazz Violinist in the Jazz Band. I have practiced and will compete
in competitions in Arizona and around the LA area. As a musician in the jazz band, I have
learned new skills and met new people as a result of this interesting experience.

Fencing
Started fencing in 8th grade to participate in an individual sport. I started to compete in
competitions and have won a few medals. Fencing has allowed me to think more
critically because it is a strategic sport. As a athlete, I have grown to be even more
devoted and committed to something that I am passionate about.
