OPCD Event

I went to the Office of Personal and Career Development to have my resume reviewed.

The OPCD helped me strengthen and build my resume. When arriving at the OPCD, my resume

mostly included my high school activities and academics, and they helped me edit it to include

more of my college experiences. Having a strong and clear resume is vital to landing a job and

being fully prepared for job interviews. The OPCD helped me turn my high school resume into a

college resume, and they also improved my grammar and the overall format of my resume.

The OPCD told me to begin each bullet point with an action verb, because action verbs

will draw the attention of possible employers and strengthen your own writing. Learning how to

build a competitive resume is a necessary skill as an undergraduate, and the OPCD taught me

how to continue modifying my resume in the future. After meeting with the OPCD, I feel more

confident about my resume, and I think that it highlights my skills and interests. As a freshman, I

now have a professional resume that I can show future employers and continue to edit as I

continue my undergraduate years at Wake Forest. My CNS class has helped me broaden my

working network through creating my LinkedIn profile, and I think that my personality tests and

strengths surveys have helped me better understand my own skills. At the OPCD, I reflected on

my strengths and learned how to best express them in my resume. Having a strong resume will

lead me to more opportunities in the working world, and I am excited to discover my future

internships and career.
