Dear Mrs. Jankowski,

For my Senior Service Learning Project, I will be working with Daniel Wertz Elementary School.
Daniel Wertz is a small, friendly school in the EVSC that is very active the community, and very
interactive with the students families. Whenever I was a child, I went to Daniel Wertz, and
played basketball for them. My sister has also went to Daniel Wertz, and also played basketball
for them as well.

My mentor at Daniel Wertz is Sean Hopple; he is a very funny, outgoing guy. Sean pushes the
kids to do their best as well as making sure that they have as much fun as they can. Sean had
coached me whenever I was in elementary school, he has also coached for Daniel Wertz ever
since he coached the team that I was a part of years ago.

My twenty-five hours will be contributed to coaching Daniel Wertzs basketball team. I will be
helping the head coach with offensive drills, defensive drills, and anything else that the coach
seems fit. After all of the practices, I will be attending games, helping the kids execute the
correct plays, as well as have a great time during the game.

What I hope to get out of this project is experience of coaching, and having experience with
teaching children, as well as pushing them to do their best. I also hope that I could develop a
relationship with these kids but at the same time coach them with purpose. I have been apart of
teams, and I really want to see the other side of coaching. Lastly, I would like to experience
what it feels like to actually be a coach that is involved with games, and to be involved with the
team.
