Employee Council continues to address, solve workplace concerns

LES Employee Council continued its
hard work in its third year, handling nine
inquiries from employees and working with
the executive team to address workplace
issues and implement solution-oriented
initiatives.
The Council was established with the
intent to provide a forum for employee
input and education to improve
communications throughout the company,
foster positive employee morale and
enhance a company-wide atmosphere
of trust. Its composed of 15 members
who were nominated and elected by co-
workers. Key accomplishments in 2016
include:
Thats A Good Question
The Council created a new monthly
bulletin called Thats a Good Question.
The purpose of the bulletin is to provide
employees with informative answers to
questions of general interest from LES
subject matter experts. Many questions
address common themes gathered from
the yearly town hall meetings with Kevin
Wailes. Other questions are created to give
employees timely information on current
industry hot topics. Let a council member
know if you have a good question!
Before investing in improvements to the
DIY Tank, Coorporate Operations requested
the Council survey employees to make
sure the program was not obsolete. The
Employee Council sent online and hard
copy surveys and received 197 responses
indicating a preference to maintain a DIY
tank at the Service Center. In October,
Corporate Operations installed a new DIY
Tank inside the Fairfield gate entrance.

Water Cooler
Due to cost concerns, the water cooler
in the Service Center fitness room was
removed. The Employee Council worked
with Corporate Operations to come up
with a replacement solution. The plan is
to install a water fountain with the water
bottle fill-up feature in the fitness room.
The installation is slated to take place with
other Service Center improvements in
2018.

DIY Tank
The Council assisted Corporate Operations
by conducting an employee survey to
gauge interest in the continued operation
of an automotive oil recycling tank (aka
DIY tank) at the LES Service Center. The
DIY tank allows employees to drop off used
motor oil for disposal/recycling. At the
beginning of 2016, the existing DIY tank
was in need of repair and posed some
environmental concerns with its location in
