Blind from the truth

Oedipus Rex is about man who is blind from the truth, but has a perfect view of the lies

that have been surrounding him throughout his whole life. The drawing that stands before you

made from graphite pencil tells the story of Oedipus and his life. On the left is symbolizing his

what he sees, lies. For all his life he has been living in the darkness. His life was great. Being

king of Thebes, married to a lovely woman, and having many children. On the right is what he is

blinded from; the truth. His wife is his mother and the man he killed was his father. He does not

know what his life could have been like for him. He is blinded from the light, and most

importantly, the prophecy. The tape around his mouth symbolizes hopeless. No matter what she

said or what he did, the prophecy was unable to be broken. All he could have done was sit back,

relax, and let his whole world fall into the fate of the prophecy.
