Introduction

To build a cow farm, we need to to take account the following information :

a. The space for a cow in a concrete cage is 30 square feet. For example, a cage
of 30 feet long and 10 feet wide and 8 feet tall is suitable for 10 cows.
b. For an open cage without concrete, additional space is needed, for instance
150 feet square per cow. This type of open cage is not suitable in our country
because of heavy rainfall and it will affect the management and the
cleanliness of the farm.
c. The drainage system and the slope of the floor is important to the closed
cage and to the open cage system as well. A good concrete is also needed for
long term so that it will not harm the cows in anyway. The food container
given must be located above the water container.
d. It is best to have trees and bushes around the farm to shed the farm and
protect the farm from wind.
e. The pole of the farm building must be stable but not necessary to use good
quality wood. The wood which has good quality from the forest can save cost
for the building cost. The roof can be made of atap nipah or zinc.
f. The food container can be made of concrete or materials that are cheaper.
The water container can be made of cheap material to save cost. The space
between food container needed is about 1.5 feet and 1 feet for water
container for each cow.
g. The roof of the farm must be materials that can withstand heat and rain and
have good ventilation. For big cow farms, the height of the roof is just above
the food container.
