Fall 2016, All Sections

Students who earn an A average (94-100) on the three hourly exams will be exempt from taking the final
exam. For those students, the average score of the three hourly exams will count as the 20% final exam
score.

EXAMINATION POLICIES:

No makeup examinations will be given, and a score of zero will be assigned to all missed exams. In cases of
documented emergencies, such as serious illness requiring hospitalization, or an emergency that is substantial
and beyond your control, the instructor may apply the final exam score in place of the zero for the missed
exam. (Effectively making the final exam worth 40% of the total semester grade). Whenever possible, you
should inform your instructor before the date of the exam. Scheduled exam dates may be changed if actual
course module presentations warrants that we do so you will be appropriately informed when such changes
are made.

LAB POLICIES:

Students are required to follow all applicable safety rules while in the lab. All Lab information, including
instructions, attendance requirements, deliverables and deadlines will be posted in Canvas as needed.

Collaboration with other students can be a valuable learning experience and is consistent with the ISAT
philosophy of teamwork. However, collaboration on labs must be acknowledged and failure to do so will be
considered a violation of the JMU Honor Code. If you simply copy from another student and represent the
work as your own, you would have violated the Honor Code and disciplinary action will be taken.

Although you will collaborate often during the laboratories, the actual write-up must be your own work,
unless the lab instructions specifically state that you are to work in groups. Collaboration between groups on
laboratory assignments is not allowed and would be a violation of the JMU Honor Code.

beginning time of the test or examination so that I can make appropriate arrangements.

RELIGION OBSERVATION ACCOMODATION

To request religious accommodation, students should notify the faculty member by no later than the end of
the Drop-Add period the first week of the semester of potential scheduled absences. Together we will
determine if mutually acceptable alternative methods exist for completing the missed classroom time, lab or

them on grounds of religious observation. The faculty member determines what accommodations are
appropriate for his/her course.
