Analysis and Impact of Alternatives:

(a) Self-healing smart grid

Self-healing smart grid is a total upgrade of a current grid system. In a past few decade it has
seen that failure in power line can cause great damage on national economic system. Because
of ongoing threat and for future development self-healing smart grid is very fruitful. Even in a
political point of view it will help to reconstruct the relationship between EU and private
sector. Overall this policy is very much needed for now as well for coming future.

(b) Offensive and defensive security solution

Offensive solution can be done using traps that attackers can encounter when intruding our
network. This trap can be utilized to perform a counter attack against the attackers. The
advantage of the offensive solution is to make the cost and the risk to the threat actor so
much high that attackers should consider whether it is worth to attack the network. The
defensive security solution is to raise the awareness of private sectors and end users inside
organizations. New security technology should be taken into consideration as soon as
possible, both administrators and end users should be aware of the situation and end users
should be trained to use the Internet in the more secure way. If employees are aware of the
risks they are facing and be well trained in the field of cyber security, the chances that
hackers could successfully attack the organizations network is much lower.
