Principals Message
It is hard to believe that spring is almost upon us. Please be reminded that we only have two weeks of
classes this month as we move into spring break.
There have been some positive additions to our school website. We now have educational links that
parents can access at home to support your childrens learning outside of the classroom. We have also
included numerous other features including a comment and questions section. Please make sure to check
out the site at www.forestgroveelementary.weebly.com. We appreciate your feedback!
Finally, I want to take this opportunity to extend a big thank you to everybody who has taken time to
volunteer and support our great school so far this year. I am continually impressed with the outstanding
support that the community and parents extend to our school!
I hope everybody has a fantastic start to spring and enjoyable upcoming spring break!

A Big Congratulations to Girls Basketball Team!

We want to extend a huge congratulations to our girls basketball team for finishing 2 nd at the recent
annual Horse Lake basketball tournament. This is a big accomplishment as it was the first year our girls
have been invited to play in the big school side of the tournament. This is especially impressive as our
girls were competing against schools that have much greater general populations than ours. Our girls
exemplified our core values extremely well by demonstrating a lot of perseverance and hard work
throughout the tournament. They also had a lot of fun and illustrated positive enthusiasm and good
sportsmanship. We are extremely proud of our girls and want to once again extend a huge
congratulations to all of them for their strong effort and for representing our school well!

Hot Lunch
The next hot lunches will be Wednesday March 8 th. Thank you to our volunteers for all
their help with this!

Festival of the Arts

Teachers and students are starting to prepare for the 100 Mile Festival of the Arts at
Martin Exeter Hall in 100 Mile House. Students will be given their lines and are
encouraged to practise over the Spring Break. Further information will follow in April
about performance times and dates.

Spring Break
School will not be in session from March 20 th to April 2nd. (This includes NIS
days, Spring break and Easter Monday.) Students will return to school on
Monday, April 3rd. Enjoy the holiday!

School of Choice
Parents are reminded that the deadline for School of Choice is March 15 th, 2017.

Provincial Satisfaction Survey 2016

The Provincial Satisfaction Survey is unique in its scope, size and usefulness to
schools. It gathers information from parents, teachers and students on topics
related to school environment, safety, and achievement. The information is used
for planning in individual schools and provides a district and provincial perspective.
The Satisfaction Survey will be administered to students in grades 4 and 7 and all school staff later in
March. We encourage parents to participate in this survey, as the results are important in identifying
and celebrating current strengths, as well as determining where the school needs to focus improvement.
The surveys contain standard questions for the Province in addition, questions from the school and/or
district that focus on local conditions or issues may be included.
The survey can be completed electronically and can be accessed on the Internet at
http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey. Any computer with an Internet connection can be used, and
access to the e-survey is simple and secure. A letter went home in February for parents of students in
grades 4 and 7. Each had a log-on number that is unidentifiable. Provincial, District and School Reports
for previous years can be viewed at the same site, without a logon number. The school is available for
parents who would like to participate but do not have access to a computer. For parents who do not wish
to use school computers, local public library computers may be another option. If you have not received
your logon number, please contact the school at 397-2962 and another letter/number will be issued.
