2. What was the video about?


The film take place in a wealthy Capitol city, surrounded by 12 poorer districts. As a
punishment for a past rebellion against the Capitol known as the dark days, one boy and
one girl from each of the twelve districts aged 12-18 are selected to participate in annual
The Hunger Games, where they are forced to fight for their own survival. The winning
tribute is known as the victor. The film follows the story of two of the tributes, Katniss
Everdeen and Peeta Mellark from district 12, the poorest of all districts.

3. Describe the relevance of this video to this course.

This video portrays a dictatorship form of government. Dictatorship is where a country or a


group of countries is ruled by one person or political entity. In The Hunger Games the
Capitol is run by a man named President Snow.

4. List what you found interesting or surprising:


- I found it surprising that people were eager to kill each other
- I found it surprising that people would like to watch people kill each other as
entertainment

What is the purpose of The Hunger Games?

or may not apply to your life, how it made you feel, what did it make you think about,etc.).

I personally found this film quite interesting. I feel like it did a good job in portraying a
dictatorship form of government. This film does not apply to me, as I live under a
democratic form of government in which I am provided with basic rights and the freedom
to say no to whatever I feel uncomfortable doing. This film made me feel very fortunate to
be living in a country where I can live my life by making my own choices and decisions,
and not be forced participate in activities I do not want to participate in.
