I choose A message to our public servants on how we expect them to
behave based on values we would like to see them.
One of the distinct tradition of every Filipino family is their respect
towards the elders. Just like pagmamano. It is a form of how Filipinos
show their respect to the elders.
Aside from pagmamano you can hear them saying po and opo.
These are the words that Filipinos used to show their respect every time
they are talking to elders and even to someone that they are going to
respect. Opo is synonymous also to Yes when answering questions
from respective person or from an older. The word po alone does not
really have its own meaning, however it adds to formality and as sign of
respect.
The used of po and opo can be commonly observed in provinces.
But still it has been a trade mark of all Filipinos. Today, a lot of kids are
being tagged as being westernized. The tradition of using po and opo
looks like it was fading in the culture. Most of the teenagers and children
do not use this tradition.
We Filipinos has a values that we called respect for others which
possess the worth and inherent the dignity of others in which different
religion and different family backgrounds. As we respect them, we learn to
value every peoples culture.
Another is the social responsibility, in which Filipinos has a willingness
to takes actions to contribute in shaping to society by means of justice,
non-violence and well-being that practices /values makes every life of
Filipino here in the Philippines to takes responsibility towards present and
future generations.
