Dear School Administrator:

My name is Heather Zins and I want to first thank you for considering my request to teach in
your district. Being one step closer to my dream of teaching is very exciting! I am originally from
Garretson, South Dakota and grew up attending school in the Brandon Valley school district in Brandon.
In May of 2017, I anticipate my graduation from Dakota State University (DSU) in Madison, SD. I will
be receiving my degrees in Elementary and Special Education with a minor in reading, technology, and
an endorsement in assistant coaching. Working with kids is my biggest passion in life and I am looking
forward to my future as an educator.

Throughout my student teaching, I have been in a 4th grade classroom for two quarters, a K-4
SPED classroom for one quarter and a 9-12 SPED classroom for one quarter. I student taught in Belize
for two weeks in Spring 2017 as well as assisted in the classrooms in Belize during the 2016 Spring
Break. While attending DSU, I also have had the opportunity to teach a few lessons in a third grade
reading class, participate in Hour of Code activities, and observe many different class settings. Through
these experiences, I have learned that each student has a different way of learning and it is important to
tailor instruction to each students unique learning and skill level. After all, students will not only be
learning from me, but I will be learning from them as well.

Being a life-long learner is extremely important as an educator. I always strive to learn new
things in or out of the classroom to help improve my methods or what I will teach to my students.
Technology is one of the most important things an educator needs to keep up to speed on. With my
degree at DSU and my love for learning, I can bring many of these new technologies to the classroom to
improve student growth and knowledge.

Once again, thank you for considering me to teach in your district. I know that you have
wonderful educators in your district that I would love to work with! Feel free to contact me if you have
any questions.

Sincerely yours,

Heather Zins
