Description of how to implement in the class: Students will be instructed to take a survey of the
class on what a topic of their choice with 4-6 response options. Once each student has their data
collected, they will be instructed to move to their devices in order to put this information into an
Excel spreadsheet. Students will put the information into a table then use that table to create a bar
graph. Students should be able to customize their bar graph using labels, color and pictures in order
to make the graph visually appealing.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): LoTi 4 is addressed here because students are
working with the software and using it to display the data that they have gathered on their own and
individually putting this into a document and creating a table and graph.
Description of the sample spreadsheet and graph/chart provided *: The spreadsheet will
include a table with the data that each individual has collected on their own. Then, the page will also
include a bar graph as a visual to represent the information that they have found. Students should be
able to label and identify what each part of the graph and table means.
Other comments about your proposed spreadsheet/graph/chart activity: If students are able to
complete the bar graph with no trouble, teacher may have students use their data to create other
graphs as well such as a pie chart where students are able to compare and contrast the different
types of graphs and how they are useful in different situations.
