Abstract. The research was conducted on Kempes hill, Kasihan, Tegalombo, Pacitan to identify the
distribution of manganese minerals using the Very Low Frequency (VLF) and induced polarization
methods. VLF survey was used to map conductive zones caused by manganese minerals. VLF survey
conducted on 3 lines with length of 240 meters and 150 meters. Meanwhile, the survey of induced
polarization method conducted on 2 lines with length of 170 meters and 200 meters. From the
measurement with VLF method was known that there were conductive zones at line 1 at distance of 60-
90 meters and 120-140 meters, conductive zone was found in line 2 at distance of 80-120 meters and 140-
170 meters, while the conductive zone in line 3 was found at distance of 70 -90 meters. The IP method
used to map the chargeability and the resistivity of a rock. From the IP measurement results was known
that the greatest chargeability was 10.5 meter seconds, the highest chargeability values indicated the
location of manganese mineral. While, the highest rock resistivity value was 250 ohm.meter that indicated
the intrusion of andesite. Manganese mineral in this research area associated with the intrusion of
andesite magma. In this research area, the type of metal dispersion was disseminated due to the highest
value of resistivity, conductivity, chargeability in one area.
