Precaution EDS000EM

When installing rubber parts, final tightening must be carried out


under unladen condition* with tires on ground. Fuel, radiator
coolant and engine oil full. Spare tire, jack, hand tools and mats
in designated positions.
Use flare nut wrench when removing and installing brake tubes.
After installing removed suspension parts, check wheel align-
ment and adjust if necessary.
Always torque brake lines when installing.

Check front axle for excessive play, cracks, wear, or other damage.
Move front wheel (right/left), and check for play. B
Confirm that nails or equivalents are not stuck in wheels.
Retighten all axle nuts and bolts to specified torque.

FRONT WHEEL BEARING
Lift vehicle, and check the following.
Move wheel hub in axial direction by hand, and check front wheel bearing for looseness. If looseness is FAX
detected, check and adjust front wheel hub assembly.
Axial end play : 0 mm (0 in)

Rotate wheel hub, and check for unusual noise. If any, replace wheel bearing.

Removal and Installation EDS000EQ

REMOVAL
1. Remove cotter pin. Using a hub lock nut wrench (special service
tool), and remove lock nut.
2. Remove caliper from knuckle. Using a wire, hang it aside.
CAUTION:
While brake caliper is removed, do not depress brake pedal.
3. Remove cotter pin from tie rod ball joint, and remove tie rod lock
nut.
4. Using a ball joint remover (commercial service tool), remove tie
rod from knuckle. During removal, be careful not break ball joint
boot. RAC0197D
CAUTION:
Ball joint remover (commercial service tool) may come off suddenly. Therefore, temporarily
tighten lock nut.
5. Remove bolts securing upper arm to knuckle and lower arm to knuckle.

INSTALLATION
Install in reverse order of removal.

DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove wheel bearing lock nut.
2. Remove bearing hub bolt, and remove hub bearing assembly.

INSPECTION AFTER DISASSEMBLY


Wheel Hub
Check wheel bearing for damage, seizure, corrosion. Also check wheel hub for cracks (by dye test). If any,
replace them.
ASSEMBLY
1. Using a drift (special service tool) as shown in the figure, press
wheel bearing into knuckle with a press.
