Plan for PEX

Theme- Community
Artifact- My artifact is a puzzle. Each student is going to contribute a piece of the
puzzle. On their puzzle piece they can color it any way they want. I will also ask them to
write a paragraph explaining how they can make their classroom a better place. Each
morning I will lead a check in through circling up. Some days we will do team building
exercises, other days we will just chat on how we are doing.
Name of Presentation- Jamies Presentation
Media to be used- Slide show of pictures?
Feelings I want to invoke- After the end of my presentation, I want my audience to have
a warm feeling and leave encouraged.
Summary of how I am going to use my artifact- The artifact I am going to use is a big
puzzle. Each student is going to have their own puzzle piece. On it they are going to
explain how they can make their classroom a better place. I am going to use my artifact
quite a bit during my presentation. I am going to choose four or five students to highlight
and talk about their puzzle pieces and their impact in our class.
Steps-
1. I am going to explain my theme. I am going to explain how I assigned math
groups a while back and out of the given 15 minutes to work, most of the partners
just argued with each other and didnt want to work with their partners.
2. Next, I am going to talk about the seminar where we discussed how important
circling up and check-ins are to create a tight classroom culture.
3. Explain how I incorporated it into my classroom.
4. Before I go over the individual pieces, hand out puzzle pieces for the audience to
fill out. I will ask them, Most of you are teachers, what do you think are a couple
good practices that you can do to make your classroom a better place for students
and yourself?
5. After that, go over some of the students puzzle pieces and compare them to the
ones that were just filled out and discuss certain pieces I find really interesting.
6. Talk about the impact of circling up. Did I notice a change?
Closure- I will then talk about the paper that discussed who I am as a teacher. I will
explain what changed and what stayed the same. I will read parts of it and then reflect
on how I feel my work is now and who I am as a teacher after student teaching.
