Important Dates What Were Learning
March 6th- Chick-Fil-A Reading: We will be working on finishing Unit 4: The Cause and
Effect of Change and starting into Unit 5: Events/People in America.
Spirit Night We are still working on our oral and written comprehension skill
daily. It is very important that we are reading at least 10-15
minutes a night and recording in our OWL book. After your child is
March 15th- Picture Day done reading, ask them questions about the story. They can write
(Dress in your best!) their answers down for extra practice. End of the Year testing
starts April 26th, with such a short time upon us please remember
to read with your child every night as well as their Response to
March 28th- Text Journals!
Kindergarten and First Math: We will be working on Unit 4: Whole Number Relationships and
grade Spring Concert Place Value! Students will practice understand place value in two
digits numbers. For example 43 has 4 tens and 3 ones. Students will
then learn how to compare up to two digit number to one another.
Dress Rehearsal at 5:30 They will be able to decide if a number is greater than (>), less than
(<) or equal to (=) another number. For example 25 = 25 or 25 < 50.
p.m. Finally, students will practice adding double digits numbers without
regrouping!

Writing: We will be working on writing narratives, writing to


inform/explain and writing research projects.

Science: We will be focusing on Earth Systems, Structures and Processes.


Birthdays Students will learn how to summarize the physical properties of earth materials,
including rocks, minerals, soils and water that make them useful in different ways.
They will also compare properties of different soil samples from different
places, relating their capacity to retain water, nourish and support the growth of
March 2nd- Jamaris certain plants.

Social Studies: We will be focusing on Unit 3: From Mountains to


March 12th -Aniyah Coast. Students will understand that history tells a story of how people
and events change society over time.

Homework: March homework is on a green sheet and was sent home March 3rd. Remember your student needs to
complete 4 squares a week. Each square should be cut and glued into their homework journal and should have the date and
parent signature. Homework is due every Friday! Also their Response to Text journal is optional but highly recommended!

Reminders: -Dont forget homework is due every Friday! (4 squares due with parent
signature) Read every night for 10-15 minutes and log in your OWL Binder! Response to
Text Journal is due on Fridays along with homework! Also dont forget our free online
resources for extra help! Mobymax, Teachyourmonstertoread and Raz Kids!
