Ruy Lopez opening

Also known as the Spanish opening, the Ruy Lopez opening is a widely used opening in chess. It begins
with the moves:

1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. Bb5

Ruy Lopez opening: Position after 3. Bb5

The opening is named for the 16th--century Spanish bishop, Ruy Lpez de Segura. The theory behind this
