GOAL
Facilitate YDC
knowledge transfer
CHALLENGE
How do we support Youth Development Counsellors (YDCs) with a toolkit of
resources, enabling them to become better mentors via a YDC to YDC
knowledge and skill transfer?
CONTEXT PEER LEARNING
Tool kit components are used
to facilitate discussions
Each YDC has a two-year term with Juma between YDCs to elicit innate
knowledge transfer.
for the toolkit, arriving at two components and cons of various tactics and
approaches to those scenarios.
STEP 1
Each player is given five tactic
cards.
STEP 2
A scenario card is turned over
for all to read.
STEP 3
Each player picks a tactic card
from their hand to address that
scenario.
STEP 4
Each player takes a turn
describing why they selected
that particular tactic to try and
address that scenario.

LIFE CYCLE
CREATION
Juma managers would create
high-level categories for
scenarios. At Empowerment
Circles specific scenarios will
be discussed and the YDCs
will brainstorm applicable
tactics and resources. The
Card Keeper will collect and
document the information.
USE
Cards will be used for game
play during new YDC on
boarding. YDCs will also use
the cards for individual
reference and skill building.
MAINTENANCE
As YDCs graduate they can
contribute new tactics and
resources to the Card Keeper
as a part of the off-boarding
process.
QUICK REFERENCE
CARDS LIFE CYCLE
CREATION
Scenario cards are
consolidated into quick
reference cards for easy
reference. YDCs are also
supplied with blank reference
cards to fill out with new
scenarios as they arise.
USE
The quick reference cards will
be used by YDCs in-the-
moment when they are trying
to find information or
resources.
MAINTENANCE
Blank templates can be used
by YDCs to capture new
scenarios as they arise or as
they are discussed in the
Empowerment Circles. The
Card keeper will collect and
document the information.
