Copper and Copper Alloys Sectional Committee, MTD 8
FOREWORD
This Indian Standard ( Third Revision ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the
draft finalized bv the Copper and Copper Alloys Sectional Committee had been approved by the
Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1960 and subsequently revised in 1969 and 1982. In this
revision following modifications have been made:
a) Requirements of tolerances on eccentricity, ovality, roundness and straightness have been
included;
b) Requirements of Cu-DLP and Cu-DHP grades of copper tubes have been included, as these
are widely used in condensers and heat exchangers;
c> Requirements of chemical and physical properties
been incorporated;
of Cu-DLP and Cu-DHP grades have
4 Requirements of mechanical properties of other existing grades have been modified; and
e) Requirements of sampling and retest have been modified.
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with,
the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded
off in accordance with IS 2 : 1960 Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised ). The
number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the
specified value in this standard.
