Description of how to implement in the class: Timeline could be used when students are being
asked to put events or times in chronological order. This would allow a neater approach then having
students hand draw and write their own. The teacher could go through how to use Timeline on the
SMART Board or Promethean Board and give an example. Since Timeline is customizable, it could be
used for scheduling also. The teacher could represent the class schedule through Timeline to show
how easy it can be used.
If this lesson on Lyndon B. Johnson had come after the implementation of Timeline, students could
create their own with minimal instruction. Students would just be asked to make a timeline using the
product and including important events in chronological order. This would then allow students to
work independently and at their own pace. Since this lesson is being used to show how to use and
implement Timeline, students will learn from it and all the features Timeline has to offer. Once
students have a clear understanding of how to use Timeline, they then will be able to create their own
in future lessons.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): I believe Timeline would fall between a LoTi level 3
and 4. It sways between a level 3 and 4 only because students would still need some direction when
using. This is because students would be able to create their own Timeline with minimal support.
Students would just need directions/instructions on how and what they are doing. This eventually
could just be a level 4 once students no longer need directions on how to use Timeline.
Description of the sample BBPT file provided *: This BBPT will be used in a lesson on President
Lyndon B. Johnson. Our timeline will outline important events that took place during President
Johnsons term in office. The LBJ timeline starts with his vice presidency under President Kennedy in
1960 and ends with him not going for reelection in 1968. Once seeing how the teacher version is
created, students could eventually make their own in future lessons. Timeline is a great resource for
showing important events in famous Americans lives per the third-grade standard.
Other comments about your proposed BBPT Activity: Timeline could also be used when
differentiation is needed. It is a more organized approach to putting something in chronological
order.
