Title: Water Quality

Problem: Does distance from sewage pipe affect water quality in San Diego Bay

Hypothesis: We believe that the water quality will be worse near the sewage pipe, than the water away
from it.

Independent Variable:The water samples from different distances from the sewage pipe

Dependent Variable(s): The PH of the water, the nitrates, phosphates, turbidity/temp. and the dissolved
oxygen.

Control Group: Normal bay water.

Overview of the Procedure:

1. Collect water from directly next to the sewage outflow pipe
2. Test water for Nitrates, phosphates, turbidity, temp, and PH
3. Follow the same steps for water collected from 20yds away from the sewage pipe, then 40yds away

Analysis of Results/Conclusion:
Though Im not sure whether the results of our experiment proved or disproved our hypothesis, the results did vary
depending upon where the water samples were taken from.
