In accordance with Tex. Educ. Cade §12.1182(b), the Commissioner of Education is authorized
{co temporarily withhold funding, suspend the authorty of an open-enralment charter school to
operate, or take any other reasonable action deemed necessary to protect the health, safety, or
Welfare ofthe students enrolled,
(On February 16, 2017, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) issued a 72-hour notice that TEA
Intended to suspend the authority of the San Antonio School for inquiry and Creativity (SASIC) 10
operate andor temporary withhold funding unless SASIC could demonstrate compliance with
the criminal history requirements of Tex. Educ. Code Chapter 22, Subeh. C and provide a health,

SASIC on February 21, 2017, as well as information provided by the San Antonio Health
Department, the Texas Department of Agriculture, and the Texas Education Agency's
Fingerprinting Division, the Special Investigations Unit has determined that SASIC remaine out of
compliance withthe criminal history requirements of Tex. Educ, Code Chapter 22, Subch Gand
Continues to have serious and ongoing food safety issues which threaten the hesith, safely and
Welfare of students,
Accordingly, pursuant to Tex. Educ, Code §12.1162(b), | am compelled to exercise the authority
vested in me to temporary withhold funding and suspend the authority ofthe charter school te
operate, Per Tex. Educ. Code §12.1182(c), this suspension wil remain in effect unt!
