Career Research

1. What is the career title? Elementary School Teacher.


2. Provide a brief description of the career. Teach students basic

academic, social, and other formative skills in public or private

schools at the elementary level.


3. What skills are needed for this job? Instructing, speaking,

learning strategies, active listening, active learning, and

technology skills.
4. What are the minimum education and training requirements?

Elementary school teachers must have at least a bachelors

degree, and have had internships of on-the-job training.


5. Is a professional degree required for this career? A Bachelors

degree in education and a state license is required.


6. How many years will the education/degree requirements take?

Are you willing to commit? It takes four years to obtain a

Bachelors degree, and I am very willing to commit.


7. What is the salary range? $33k - $58k
8. What is the job outlook? There will be a constant need for

elementary teachers in the future of about 378,700 job openings

in the next ten years.


9. What are the opportunities for growth and advancement? This

career has declined by 2% over the last two years, and is

expected to remain the same over the next ten years. In the next
ten years, retirement of current teachers will create a demand

for new teachers.
