Peer Mentoring Program

2016-2017
A Partnership between Desert Hills Middle School and
Bloomington Elementary School
Assigmments
18 Honors Students participated in this program
They were all assigned to classrooms from K-4th grade
They used the Lexia Program to identify the students needs
They worked with the teachers to help struggling students.

Data Outcomes
The identified students improved in all areas:
Math improved by 38%
Reading improved by 42%
Spelling improved by 45%
Comprehension improved by 47%
Program Results
The director of the Lexia Program contacted Mrs. North to congratulate
her for having the school with the most logged in hours and the most
significant increase of student improvement.
Students working with the peer mentors far exceeded the targeted outcome.

Because of the success of this program, both principals have agreed to


continue this program for next year.
