Our knowledge of the worlds most famous lost continent comes from the work of

one man Plato.

Plato was a disciple of Socrates and master of Aristotle. Plato was a great classical
Greek philosopher. He lived in Greece between 428 and 348 BC and revealed the
story of Atlantis in his Dialogues Timeous and Citrias. Plato was the singular
source of all information about the ill-fated island race and whilst experts write
longwinded theses about the age and position of Atlantis, nobody is entirely sure
that Plato did not just invent the Atlantean people as an allegory for what happens
when a civilization over-reaches itself.
Many researchers believe that they have some evidence or proof that could give us
the answer to the question "Where did Atlantida sink? Why did Atlantida sink?
Many investigations make sense but they differ greatly among themselves about
the location of the Atlantis.

That's why I will only talk about what happened with Atlantida according to Plato.

Atlantis was explained to be in the shape of a bullseye. Alternating rings of land

were separated by water. The Atlanteans built a temple covered with gold and
silver. In some of his works he described a wonderful continent. It was called
Atlantis. It was like heaven. The Atlenteans were hardworking, religious and
enjoying riches beyond any later civilization. They were originally a powerful but
fair race. They respected the law.

The location of Atlantis is quite clearly described by Plato, but researchers have
nonetheless "found" Atlantis pretty much everywhere else. Plato describes Atlanta
as a vast island-continent west of the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by the
Atlantic Ocean. The way to other islands, and from these you might pass to the
whole of the opposite continent

According to Plato in one day and one night it vanished forever under the Atlantic
Ocean, because their taste for power and empire led to them over-extending
themselves and the great god Zeus saw the corruption that had taken over the
people and sent them an immense barrage of earthquakes, fire and water that
made Atlantis disappear under the waves.

I think that there is many research about Atlantis that place it at many different
locations around the world. So I doubt that this mystery will be solved. For me the
Atlantis couldn't have existed.
